I wouldn't be so sure. Skype can do that sort of thing. What about automated network updates? Responses to pings/scans/other ip traffic? Try monitoring your network traffic (wireshark, tcpdump etc). Find which of your packages is the guilty one and then you can make a decision on if you want to keep it around or do something like remove/throttle it.
