I would recommend openSUSE (or Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop if you
are looking for commercial support). One of the aims of the Novell-M$
deal was to build inter-operable software.
I would not be keen to discuss the rest of the aims.

BTW, I work for Novell's Suse division.
