Indier , You should move to Ubuntu (version above 8), then installing any package will much more easier using "apt" command , you never need to worry about any installation , there repository are great and updated. but if you want to stick witrh fedora , use there package manager http://www.tuxmagazine.com/node/1000038/print go through this link. it will help you
