There is nothing special about it. Their server is setup that way. Try

Somebody just discovered it and spread it around. Make your own and
impress (read: dupe) your less tech savvy friends/family.

As to me it now looks like MS exploiting the DNS by resolving any domain name with bing.com post-fixed, to bing.com server's IP address and getting the traffic redirected and also gaining popularity.
Please correct if the DNS thing that I'm thinking off is not correct.
