Mutt would be more than good. mutt -f pop3://username@mailhost (you would be prompted for the password) .. should get you into the pop box. Please use a recent(1.3.x/1.4.x) version of mutt to try this. The best thing about mutt is that you can start using mutt anywhere without configuring it at all.
