Maybe it is because the mouse pointer is getting rendered on the
screen with a huge offset (instead of where X simply wants it to be).
Have you tried by adding the following line in the Device section
(Section "Device") of /etc/X11/xorg.conf  -
Option "SWCursor" "1"
Or you might try,
Option "HWCursor" "0"
(this might fix the problem if it was related to hardware accelerated
mouse cursor)
