Hey Erik!
I already have the "Lakes of Canada EP" promo so pass it along to
someone who doesn't have it already. I just really dig obscure music
trivia. I also have an A&M VHS promo copy of the video of "Wonder of Birds".
I used to manage a music shop and had great relationships with most of the
label reps. I always made it a point to give heavy instore play rotation to
great bands like IM who otherwise had difficulty seeing the light of day on
the radio. I found that, even though most of the major labels are very bad
at promoting these types of bands, most of the field reps work very hard and
do a pretty good job of crusading so to speak. In this case not only did
the rep provide the "Wonder of Birds" video but made sure we were working
John Hiatt's "Stolen Moments" album, which also features Karen on the song
"Through Your Hands". He also turned us on to the Joni Mitchell album which
wasn't even on his label.
Haven't made it to Helsinki yet. I work retail and do the music thing
on the side so I see very little time off. I'll get there eventually.
You'd be suprised at how much great music comes out of Finland!
