(i second that....would love to hear "Happy, The End" live as well as
"Curious" and "Surreal"....and well, about 8 and half dozen others...)
this being my 8th time seeing them (8, really too few), i have to say
this was one of the best sounding shows yet, in my opinion. maybe it's
the intimacy of the fez that does it for me...everyone tucked in, being
surrounded by people that all have the same love and appreciation for the
innocence mission's music. to see all the other faces of IM fans...to
know they really exist...and if i were to mention the name karen peris
they would know who i was talking about and their eyes would light
up...and everyone just knows. you know? :)
i can't help to laugh at myself when in the middle of their sets i become
aware of myself and the silly smile i have plastered on my face from ear
to ear. and for the full hour and a half it never seems to leave. how
happy they make me. even when karen makes me cry i have that stupid smile
on my face. there wasn't a lovelier song sung last night than "I Never
Knew You From The Sun". Karen played alone, Don looking on, Mike and his
converse sneaks still as could be...all i could do was hold my breath.
they played everything on the new album i was hoping them to play, except
for "Look For Me As You Go By", which would have been a treat. I like
when Karen and Don sing together...and there is just something about that
song that sends chills down my spine.
Denison was absolutely amazing....in fine form i should say...standing
and all! i have to get my hands on some of his albums...he played some
songs last night that grabbed me instantly. i only have one as of yet. he
has such a comforting, yet lonely voice...something very unique to him i
think.
overall, fine food, delightful drink, cool company, magnificent music! i
can only wish that one day we could put our heads together and find a way
to meet each other at these outings....would be nice.
take care! ~emily
