to be readable on the screen which is much lower-res than printed
output.  Also, I tend to tell it to print pages 1-1 or 1-2 (based on
expectations) and then an additional one if it's necessary - even
though it doesn't usually go to a 2nd page sideways, I don't like to
print a whole extra page just to get the web page's footers in there!

Or I use iCab, which has print preview so I can see what it's going to
look like and resize accordingly.

Sometimes I save as HTML source and then edit in my favorite HTML
editor (Alpha) - usually to remove huge images that take up 1/2 the
first page, or to remove width specifications so it will print across
a whole page, and thus take fewer pages. (I do this with a search &
replace on "width=xx" where xx is the width they've specified the
table cell to be.)
