Control Strip Modules are in a folder called "Control Strip Modules" in the System Folder. Changes to the contents of this folder take affect on restart (well, technically you could force quit the CS and restart it, but some CSM's require code to load at start up to work). If there are too many CSM's loaded, the CS gives you scroll arrows at each end with which to scroll through the CS. All CSM's that will run on your computer will load, even if it makes the CS seem too long. Battery Monitor CSM only works on portable computers; the Battery Monitor monitors rechargeable batteries, not the internal lithium battery in iMacs.
