To a query regarding possible printers for an iMac, I had earlier suggested looking at a Samsung ML-1220M Laser Printer.
I've got some new developments regarding this unit. If like many of us, you like to print the odd numbered pages first, and then flip the stack, reinsert it into the paper tray and print the even numbered pages,(manual duplexing) then the Samsung ML 1220M has a serious shortcoming. The even numbered pages will have a toner smear at the top. I thought that perhaps this was a defect in the unit that I was trying out, but then I tried out a second unit in the store, and it did the same thing. So the conclusion is that the Samsung ML-1220M is a great little printer IF you print only on one side of the paper. But if you like to print on two sides then the smearing is a serious flaw. If anyone has bought this printer, and it does the same even-numbered page smearing as on the two units that I've tried, and this flaw is of concern, then I suggest returning it immediately to the store.
