Quartz Extreme is a part of Jaguar, yes.... but just like PlainTalk is. If 
you don't have a microphone, you can still use Mac OS, just not PlainTalk 
(that's the Speech Recognition software). If you don't have graphics card 
capable of Quartz Extreme, you can still use Jaguar.... you just won't get 
the benefits of Quartz Extreme.
