Is her computer running OS 9 or OS X?

Under OS 9, I used the Remote Access button (has a picture of a Mac and a
telephone pole on it) in the Control Strip to dial up and disconnect when I
was using a dial-up connection. It also keeps track of how long you've been
online.

If the Control Strip isn't on the bottom of her screen, she can hide and
show it, and set a key combination to hide and show it easily, by going to
the "Control Strip" control panel, under "Control Panels" under the Apple
menu.

Under OS X, I have no idea. =o)
