Also, in OSX, (it's been so long since I've been I've booted in Classic 
that I don't remember if does the same thing)IE, when it's *not* 
selected as the default browser, has an annoying dialogue bog that comes 
up at each launch asking if you want to set it as default. The default 
(blue throbbing button) choice is to say "yes", which is what you 
probably inadvertently hit, or simply returned, thus making IE your 
default. If you use IE again and you see this dialogue, look for a tiny 
checkbox in the lower left corner telling it to "not ask you again" and 
remember to click the "no" button (saying no to making it your default 
browser.) Of course, if you ever do want to make it the default browser, 
you can do so in the Internet preference.
