I beg to disagree, for one thing there are (or were) similar drivers for Macs, DirectCD was part of Toast 4. Second, Roxio's DirectCD on Windows by default will pop up a warning every time you try to eject a disk telling you that if you want anyone else to be able to read it you should close it first. Just because some users ignore this doesn't mean that the software should have trainer wheels on it to force you to close the session, wasting time and 20 MB of capacity.
