Yes, after all that's done and you've rebooted and created the new account for yourself, you should run Disk Utility and "Repair Permissions." I know, you're asking yourself how permissions could have been set wrong on a clean install, and perhaps they haven't been, but I've found this to be quite helpful after major installs/upgrades. Also you probably should defragment the drive again. For some reason not clear to me, major OS X installs do a REAL NUMBER on the drive in terms of fragmentation. I only recommend you boot from and use DiskWarrior/PlusOptimiser for this job. I don't trust Norton, and don't know if Drive 10 defragments as well as PO. _Chas_ Come to ...
