Hi Kari; It will work with your computer, I have a Maxtor Ultra ATA 133 Installed on my 500 CDRW, you just wont be able to take advantage of that dives speed capabilities, Apple does not support ATA 133 on any of their machines at present, I believe your iMac is limited to ATA 33 support. Your drive will only transfer data at that slower rate , not the rate the drive is capable of, and yes a G3 is a PowerPC Processor, thats what PPC means! My Drive works great and is much more quiet then the stock drive that was their before! Good Luck!
