Well, I did try to install the driver. I plugged the smartdis in, and then inserted the cd in an attempt to install the driver. A window opened with the following icons: 1) USB Floppy Install 2.1.6ib4 (double click to install software) 2) USB floppy drive f 3)Product info 4)useful websites 5)Adobe Acrobat Reader When I double clicked on the first icon (thinking that installation would more or less just tale care of itself) I got the message that there was no system folder and that the installation couldn't continue. There was also a warning that iMacs might need an update from Apple. The link provided to Apple Support didn't work. I went to Apple's site and found an old article from 2000 about install floppy drives, but it doesn't make sense to me. I'm not sure whether I should have clicked on the icon that is labeled USB floppy drive f first or whether I have to create a folder somewhere (where?) and then drag the disk image into the folder and then somehow launch the installation. I have to admit, I procrastinated about using the drive because I thought it would be a little unintuitive for the likes of me to set up. Any ideas? I hope this isn't an issue of a firmware update. I'm more confused than lazy on this score. Thanks, Donald -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
