Mary: Thanks for all that info! Mine is the Titanium version that I bought from the AppleStore and it seems to imply that I need a driver. In fact, it comes with a cd with an instruction card which instructs the user to insert the cd and to follow the installation instructions. That just resulted in the error message. Interestingly, the link to the FAQ question about the system folder (which was in the error message) is a dead link on their site. Just my luck. Maybe mine is already plugged in. Maybe I should delete the install disk image and see what happens. Can you tell me if you always have a white drive image on your desktop when it's plugged in? Do you have to unplug the disk when not in use? The FAQ suggests that some computers won't start up if the drive if left plugged in. Also, does it take a long time to open up files from the external drive? Is this the nature of a USB connection as opposed to a firewire connection? Once I make a copy of my html files, I'll experiment with opening them up via the disk and I suppose I'll try contact SmartDisk's help desk about the broken link to the FAQ question which applies to my error message.
