I have asked previously regarding my slot loading CD drive on my iMac G3/333
with System 8.6

It used to be about 80% reliable loading CD's and the computer used to
regularly 'pause' so I applied the firmware update from Apple's site. It
appeared to improve reading for a while and the 'pausing' certainly stopped,
but not long after it appeared to stop reading CD's completely.

After some playing about with it, I have found it will load Mac OS formatted
CD's fine - both commercial and 'home burnt'. However it refuses 100% to
load anything else.

I have checked in the System extensions folder and all the drivers appear to
be installed. Is there anything else to look at before I replace the CD
drive ?

Regards

Phil Walding
