That's a good tip. Years ago with my Rev.B, I encountered a problem 
where double- clicking .pdf files would not automatically launch 
Acrobat Reader. Instead, a dialogue would show up saying "...the 
program that created this is unavailable...cannot be opened." I would 
have to manually launch Reader and navigate to the file or drop the 
file on Reader's icon. I lived with this for a while until I wrote to 
Dr. Mac, or some columnist, and he said he'd heard fo this and 
suggested trashing the *SimpleText" prefs, which did the trick.

A seemingly unrelated parameter can sometimes mess up anything. I think 
it's that sort of "voodoo" that l miss most about the Classic OSes, but 
not much ;)
