Hello.

I'm on an iMac DV 400, 1 GB RAM, OS 9.2.2. My 10 GB hard drive has less
than 1 GB of available space left. I've had trouble with some functions
that I usually don't have problems with.

For instance, when I try to "place" a photo or graphic into PageMaker 5, it
often tells me it can't find PhotoShop or Picture Viewer or something like
that to translate it. When I print out the PageMaker document, the photos
that I was able to include don't print. The text is there, and some little
bitty photos, but none of the others print.

When I try to add a voice recording in iMovie, I can't select the "record
voice" button. I quit that movie, opened a new document, pasted in a few
photos, and was able to record my voice as narration. So I quit it,
reloaded the movie I'm trying to create, and I'm back to being unable to
record.

In ClarisWorks, I tried to search for a certain phrase, and nothing happened
when I typed "command-f". It's always worked! But not today. It doesn't
even show up in the menu.

Is there something on Macs that is similar to defragment on PCs? My son
defragments about once a month on his PC. I often have PageMaker,
Photoshop, Internet Explorer, and ClarisWorks opened and closed several
times, and sometimes all simultaneouly running.

I have deadlines to meet with both the PageMaker project and the iMovie
project. They were both last Monday!!! HELP!!!!

I began saving my 2001 and 2002 photos to CD to make some room on the HD,
but my son's PC can't read the photos. Is that normal? I can open the
photos that he burns on his PC, but he can't open the photos that I burn on
my iMac (external Fantom Drive CD burner and Roxio Toast lite). So I
haven't deleted the photos yet, in case I did something wrong in the burning
process.

Claire
