STOP. Here's your problem right here. Your computer is running out of 
room that it needs to work with temporary files. This problem WILL get 
worse (directory will become corrupted and so on) if you do not 
immediately address this. I would recommend that you keep AT LEAST a 
gig free at all times.

These two problems indicate to me that your system is already on its 
way to being corrupted.

I would strongly recommend you do the following things:

1. Clear space. Lots of it.
2. Make backups of your important files NOW.
3. Using DiskWarrior/PlusOptimizer or (if you must) Norton Disk 
Doctor/Speed Disk (current version), repair your directories and 
defragment your hard drive.

No. Assuming you are making a hybrid CD, he should be able to read them 
just fine provided you remembered to add the .jpg to the end of the 
filename on all the photos.

You probably did. Make sure you are burning a hybrid CD (Mac & PC) and 
not a Mac-only disc.
