I don't think X's QT Player can handle VCDs at all -- it won't even play the .mov files Toast adds to VCDs to ensure easy computer playback.

There is a shareware app called VCDPlayer X, but I prefer the open-source VideoLanClient, which will play nearly every video format you can throw at it : http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Does anyone know how to get Video CD's to playback in OS X with
QuickTime? I have an iMac DV SE, so I have DVD drive in it if it helps.

They play fine when booted into OS 9 and previous. There I just start
QuickTime, and then manually open the DAT file in the MPEGAV folder on a
Video CD. I've been doing that for some time without a problem.
