From: Clark Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Today I received about 560 virus messages (yes, 560, no typo). Fortunately all but about six were stopped by my ISPs spam filters. I'm wondering how much longer we'll have an Internet at this rate.
Here on mac.com, I saw maybe 5 the first day, 2 the second, none today. Somebody at Apple is keeping an eye on this stuff, that's for sure.
Somebody really should sue Microsoft about this. Yes, I know they didn't write the virus -- and of course they in turn should sue the pants off the virus author if he's ever caught -- but MS bears at least some of the responsibility by releasing products they know darn well are vulnerable.
Maybe Ralph Nader will get mad about it one day.
It is inconceivable to me that anyone would write systems or software that would execute code without the users permission/knowledge, regardless of how cool it makes marketing email and websites look.
It's interesting "the Chinese" are working on a replacement for MS products. There is a very high piracy rate in China. MS must have finally found a way to foil that with their "call home" registrations. I couldn't see them reinventing the wheel when Linux is available, but I digress.
I'm getting a couple of virus emails a day now. Too bad Mail doesn't have a ".exe attachment" rule.
