I've aquired a dead Rev A Bondi Blue iMac. What it currently does is the following:
Powers on, Gives a normal Startup Chime. Hard Drive spins up Video never changes from black (doesn't sound as if the CRT ever charges) Power button stays Orange iMac does nothing else. I've checked the normal items like PRAM battery, reset the CUDA, reset the logic board (as per Apple's PDF on this model iMac). I've also tried connecting an external monitor, it also never changes (I don't believe it ever gets a signal as my test monitor will click when it receives a video signal, and it doesn't click). Anyone know what directions I should start looking? Various searches online turn up nothing definite, other than the Orange Light of Death is a bad thing. But nothing seems to give a solid answer as to what might be wrong. Some links indicate it may be a bad processor, but since it passes POST testing and gives a normal startup chime, I'm curious if that's really a problem. The Apple PDF doesn't really give much help. I haven't traced the power as per the PDF, but again, since the unit powers on and chimes, it seems as if it is getting power to all points the PDF says to check (the power trace directions in the PDF really seem to be for a unit that doesn't power on... this one does, it just won't boot).
