I have a Bondi Blue iMac. I'm guessing Rev A as that is what is printed
on the underside of the heatsink as well as one of the cables inside.

You are correct, there is no external video "option" on the one I have.
However, I removed the bottom cover, disconnected the internal video at
the DA-15 connector and plugged in a different monitor.

When the iMac is powered on, it doesn't appear to send a signal to the
video port as my test monitor doesn't do its tell tale click when it
receives a signal (one of the reasons I use this monitor as a test screen
is it has a very audible power cycle as it wakes from sleep upon
detection of a video signal, that comes in handy when diagnosing video
problems).
