I want to transfer VHS-C to DVD.

Tom,
I have transferred several hours of video using imovie & idvd. This ability was a motivating factor in purchasing an Imac. I don't know enough technical stuff (I'm a Mac newbie) to help you hook up your camcorder to the computer. Hopefully your camera has a firewire output and appropriate cables and can be plugged directly to the Imac . I have a Dazzle AV Bridge ( www.dazzle.com ) to convert the analog signal from my VCR to a digital signal and feed it to the Imac. it Works like a champ.

Imovie has allowed me plenty of options to make my home movies look the way I want them. It is not a "professional" level of software but, the learning curve is not that steep either. There is a pretty good tutorial in iMovie help that really gave me all the infromation I needed to get started.

iDvd has a similar tutorial available. And creating a finished project really has been a drag and drop operation!

The only thing that surprised me was the length of time required to 'render' video and then burn the project to DVD. And, the limit on the length of your finished project seems short. Something like 60-90 minutes

Roxio's Toast is not needed for what it sounds like you are trying to do but, it is a pretty handy piece of software.

Good luck,
Mickey
