I've seen the same problem with people with a large number of fonts
installed. If you can figure out what font causes the problem(Helvetica
Fractions, perhaps? Or some kind of Times font?) disable those fonts by
moving them out of the font folders or just select a different font in the
preference settings in Safari, iChat, Mail, whatever.
