A couple other things. Be aware that Star Band and Direct Way have long winded "contracts". That's the reason I bought all the equipment upfront. I could get a year contract. By buying and owning the "equipment" I kept myself out of some very severe penalties if I am out before a year. They really tag you for the "used Equipment" return. This way the worst I could be tagged is for a year of service at $79.00 a month. They say they allow transfers. Which is good for me.
Also a reason I selected Star Band is they reach into Alaska and if I ever get out of So Cal. and back to my real home I can use the service up there. Funny I have DSL in Alaska 60 miles N.W of ANC now, but not here, kids are all in college so out to the lake we go. I have emailed people north of the Alaska Range that get good reception. I will have to get re-pointed, but I am in bed for months so will take their installer course and get certification.
The mistake for me, I let the installer order the equipment thinking better service, not so, they just point it. I need a bigger dish up in Alaska. Installer claimed they could not get it, I knew it was wandering from reality, but after 2 spinal fusions and decompressions I was not going to argue. I am selling this house and property and will ship 2 40 foot containers of 30 years of "stuff". I will just order the dish myself, Star Band will ship whatever you want to pay for over the phone. I could not find a installer for Direct Way, there were only a few Star Band installers but this is county where 4 out of 5 people have HSI.
The FAP throttle is bad, WX at either your Dish or their Dish can cause fade although it rained really bad here and I did not get fade but this is So Cal not back east with 30,000 foot thunderheads. I hope it works out just really dig.
Best
Geoff
