You don't need to do this. Just install OS X. Don't bother removing the
old stuff first, and don't bother partioning the drive.
Why not?
The instructions say you must create a 8G partition and that it
should be the first one; OS X must be installed there. If I am to
partition, I need to backup the data that will be erased. Or am I
missing something here?
