I am pasting below an exchange from a previous discussion on this List of Ram and iMac 233s.
Personally, I have installed 128 MB in my Rev B's top slot, with the original 32 MB remaining in the bottom slot. Soon, I plan to install the two 256MB sticks I bought some time ago, with the electrical tape trick suggested as per Chris (below): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FYI installing Ram in 233 iMacs: Someone wrote: > Be aware of >one possible problem. The iMacs 233-333 had a max ram spec of 256mb >when they were produced. I have had several occasions when I put two >256mb sticks in and the top stick would only register as 128mb. Chris answered: If you have this happen, check to make sure that your processor card doesn't have metal retaining clips for the SIMMs. If it does, make sure they aren't touching any of the chip pins on the ram card. I had this happen, and the iMac worked fine, it just wouldn't register the full amount of memory. A quick bit of electrical tape to insulate the retaining clips cured the problem, and I had a Rev A happily working with 512 MB of ram (2x 256). -chris On Thursday, August 04, 2005, at 12:40PM, Jo Welch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >I want to upgrade Ram.
