Hi all I was trying to burn a dvd for the first time and it wasn't happening. I'm on a 15in 800m flat panel and I was using a memorex 8X dvd-r disc. From what I could find on the subject apples site says you can use higher burn rate discs it will just burn at its limit 2X or 4x can't remember which. Are these disc known to be bad ? Otherwise I did the firmware update relative to my model back when I was on jag ( on 3.8 now) I got to thinking , when I did a clean install of panther do you have to redo that firmware update ? Because I remember I saw the update in the software update window right after I did the clean install and was puzzled but then it dissapeared soon after. I thought maybe if it did indeed need it again it automatically included it with the 3.8 combo update and thats why it dissapeared. When I use system profile I can't find the devices tab that shows the burners info that the apple documents say is there. So my questions are:
1. Anybody had expierience with that brand of disc ? 2. How do I find out my firmware status ? 3. Does firmware have to be reinstated after a clean install ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
