I do have the separator panel because I have the whole Graphite

After testing all the various pin locations with my multimeter it

the PAV board is bad (tried the PMU reset etc, etc). So its up for
parts.
My question now is about the separator panel. I was looking at an
Indigo
that I have that is missing the PAV and logic board already. I can
see most
of the screws but can't tell for sure if the crt needs to be
removed. It
looks like the iMac will need to be dismantled almost completely.
Any insight?

Yes, you will need to remove all the outer casing, put the CRT face-
down on a towel, and remove the various cables from the CRT to the
PAV board, including the cable from the CRT to the flyback
transformer (NOTE: discharge CRT first! -- see Apple service manual
for correct procedure). Then remove the four screws holding the
plastic assembly to which the PAV is attached to the CRT bezel. You
also have to loosen the clamp holding the video board to the CRT (be
very careful during removal of the video board to avoid breaking the
CRT). As you lift the PAV/divider board assembly away from the CRT,
you'll be able to access and disconnect two cables from the PAV board
at the end nearest the CRT. It also helps to remove the drive cage
assembly before you attempt all this. Follow the service manual and
take it easy -- everything comes apart very easily, it's just tedious.
You will need to fabricate a jumper cable for the video board in
order to save any new settings when you marry up the 600 board with
the 400 CRT. Again, see the service manual and the Display Adjustment
Utility for directions. At this point you will have the guts of the
iMac, sans any outer plastic case pieces, sitting on a flat surface
while you do the adjustments.
Again, good luck!
