When you address an email in MAIL, it tries to help by guessing who you're sending to and adding the rest of the address. If you pause before completing the address, a drop-down menu appears, containing all the possibilities and you make a selection. HOWEVER, in our case, some of those possibilities have been corrupted, so the address is incomplete or garbled. HOWEVER, mail keeps offering those as a first choice no matter how many times I select thwe good one. The answer, apparently, is that the "Previous Recipients" list under Window stores every address you've sent emails to...even those times when you've clicked REPLY ALL and added in dozens of folks you don't really know but someone had them in their cc: list when sent to you... I just spent half hour editing mine and got rid of hundreds of useless names.
