Hello, when I bought this great iMac a year ago, it seemed really fast - and yet new challenges now seem to be pushing it to the limit. In particular, Netflix Instant Play, which we love, stutters a bit, just enough to be annoying. So my question is, where is the bottleneck in internet video streaming: computer (with 1 G memory), Airport (older 11g standard), or cable (standard package, not the faster upgrade)? OK, detectives, below are the facts; what do you advise?
Model Name: iMac Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 1 GB (the stock memory amount when computer was bought) Bus Speed: 667 MHz Airport Extreme with 802.11g (about 4 years old). Usually only this computer on home wireless network at a time, but can be up to four computers at a time, sometimes involving an Airport Express. No other wireless devices on network. Internet from Cable company. I have “Preferred Package --- NOW Up to 5 MB downstream & up to 2 upstream.” --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's iMac List, a group for those using G3, G4, G5, and Intel Core iMacs as well as Apple eMacs.
