Boot the Mac from the OS X DVD then reset the password.

Easy.  And in fact, that's what you should do.  There's no telling 
what's on that HD or how that system has been abused.  I would zero 
that drive to make sure there are no bad blocks, then do a complete 
clean installation of the OS.

Don't pirate the Mac OS.  There are many places on the 'net to purchase it.
