That indicates that no bootable system can be found.  Perhaps your 
hard drive has died, perhaps it has been corrupted, or perhaps the 
drive cable has come loose.  Boot from your OS install CD/DVD and run 
Disk Utility to see if the HD can be seen.

If you need advice on replacing the HD, you'll need to let us know 
what model iMac you have.
