I've done it as well, even from OSX to OS9. OS 9 is a little tricky to get to see the internet; in the TCP/IP preference, set it to DHCP, connect through Ethernet (if that is an option...) and it should connect. Also, check the AppleTalk pane to make sure it's not using Ethernet. File sharing from OSX to OS 9 is another hassle in itself.
