"I have never owned a printer that I liked."

You could do worse than look at the Epson L series. Integrated (Epson) ink 
tanks, good size bottles of ink that mean you never get air in the 
printheads. May or may not be available in your country; may need to get 
one smuggled in!

My A4 (L355) went two years on the ink that comes with it.
