What kind of crash -- a BSOD, system hang, pop-up error message, etc.?

I can't imagine that an Intel NIC would cause this.  I believe that the 
only network card that is guaranteed to have problems with IMail is Linksys 
(although there are quite a few "cheapies" that can often have problems), 
and with that you'll see a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).
