Thanks for the welcome,
I have actually been using IMAIL for quite a while as a customer of
Interland.Net from the US (I am stituated in Poland).
I believe that they are quite a serious ISP player in the US, so it looks
like it is working fine for them.
They have a mixture of NT and UNIX boxes - the customer gets to choose
which - I chose NT because of the Front Page extensions, although now I know
that You can have Front Page extensions on UNIX also (on Linux anyway).
Because I have some NT licences, and I have some PowerEdge servers arriving
in my office on Monday, I decided to start off on the NT platform (I am
testing Linux now as my Secondary DNS), and see what happens there.
And ofcourse, because I have seen how IMAIL works in practice, and I have
read some documentation on its configuration, it looks like its quite a
configurable environment, thus this has been the forst product that I looked
at while evaluating (I have also seen some other products like RockCliffe
and I have some experience in MDeamon from Deerfield).
Even though I am not yet an experienced ISP, hopefully I can contribute to
anyone with problems similar in nature to what I have gone through over the
years.
I have been an IT Manager for the last few years in one of the biggest
American pharmaceutical companies in Poland, and since mid 1998 I am running
a 4 person programming/consulting company.
Our flagship product is a client server application to track the activities
of sales force representatives in pharmaceutical and fmcg companies.
Because of the hard times, I have decided to move into the internet business
as well.
Glad to be here, and hope to be of help to anyone.
Marcin Zastawny,
owner, INFOCON.

Glad to have you join the ranks Marcin! It seems like you will be a
valuable contributor to this forum. We looked at a number of Mail systems
as well. NT Mail caught some eyes around here while I was having some IMAP
troubles with IMAIL (resolved), but the value point of IMAIL was what kept
the decision makers here on the IMAIL course. We are stress testing an
IMAIL server for use in a huge system and it is doing very, very well. From
another customer... You are making a good decision!

Thanks very much.
This is strange - IMAIL seems to have all the capabilities that an NT admin
would want.
Therefore I start to ask myself questions.
What are the advantages of other mail systems like CommuniGate Pro, which
carry a price tag of around $30000 for the unlimited version?
IMAIL seems to be able to handle in excess of 100000 mailboxes, webmail,
web
administration, customizabel webmail pages, list server and so on and so
on.
Looks like I will be joining the list of IMAIL customers...
Marcin

Marcin, that would be very easy to realize !!
I am developing the same thing ! (or am going to.. when I have the time ;)
Make an extra database, where you store all user information, especially
the
information,
if account X of Domain Y is free or NOT !
That can be easily done in ASP or whatever !
So the user chooses his free webmail adress using a form... u then verify
if
it is available.
If yes you call the "adduser.exe" command and pass the parameters the user
has input.
You then store this data in your db.. so that this adress can not be taken
by someone else again !
That should be all :)
Keep me informed about your progresses, ok ?
