I have been down this path with Ipswitch Support. It took me almost a month to get
them to the point of reproducing the problem. I don't know what the status of this is
as far as development is concerned (if any thing is being done at all), as i have had
no confirmation of any fix being developed.
What i have found, though, is that installing IE5 seems to have fixed my issue. The
LDAP dll's are different between using O98(InternetOnly) and O98(CorpWorkgroup). When
using O98(IO), the LDAP dll's are the same ones used by Outlook Express, and you will
find that the same problem exists in OE.
I am using O98(IO) with IE5 and it seems to be working ok for now.
Something in v5.03 caused the issue in O98, as when I was running v4.07 I had no
problems.

I have the commonname attribute and it has the correct value.
If I choose find from the address book it works great.
My problem only appears when you have the LDAP service selected to check
addresses and enter the name in the 'to' box. After a few seconds it
will replace the name 'rory' with a single underscore character.
