So it does not work for all virtual domains?  I currently have the same
problem but an ISP is hosting my site.  Any thoughts to fix this problem are
greatly appreciated.

It depends on which Imail domain did you set up to use external ODBC
database. You have to choose  the right one.  I had this problem before but
it's fixed.  The reason was I was using for the wrong virtual domain.
