Recommended paging file is the amount of RAM plus 12 MB
however for performance, especially with SCSI drives, set
the paging file to 2 or 2-1/2 times the amount of installed
physical memory. This is especially true if you are running
SQL server or Exchange server. The paging file can span
multiple logical disk.
On my POS P180 with 128 MB RAM I have 3 partitions,
each with 128 MB paging file. Spanning the logical disk
does not do anything to improve performance but since I
only have a 500 MB system partition spreading out the
paging file allows me to not worry about the system partition
being overloaded.
Does this help performance? I tend to think so. But who am I?
