Eric,
>From what I read in your reply you are saying that a zone file should look
something like what I have show (simplified, just using A records) for
yoursitename.com, correct? In my example .50 and .100 are two different
machines. iMail is on .100 and IIS is running on .50. There is no smtp
server of any sort running on .50.
IN A 10.10.10.50
IN MX 10 mail
mail IN A 10.10.10.100
pop IN A 10.10.10.100
smtp IN A 10.10.10.100
www IN A 10.10.10.50
ftp IN A 10.10.10.50
I have set up yoursitename.com as a virtual (IP-less) domain in iMail with
an official host name of yoursitename.com and an alias of
mail.yoursitename.com. If I send mail from another domain (not on the iMail
server) to [EMAIL PROTECTED] the mail bounces, which tells me the MX
record is not redirecting the mail to the smtp server. If I send mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] the mail does not bounce. This conflicts with the
way you described it. Am I misunderstanding something here or am I just
confused? yoursitename.com and www.yoursitename.com both go to the web
server as expected.
Thanks,
Roger
