I have used Legato's Replistor and it has worked very good. I tested the
automatic failover and it worked very good. However, in production I use it
to replicate in realtime with a manual failover.

Is Double-Take suitable for file server applications? (i.e. creating an
HA
file server via replication instead of actual clustering?)
I'm hesitant to consider any product where they won't show the price on
their website until you fill out a quote form. Usually, that tells me it
is
expensive and they are afraid of giving out the price until they have a
sales lead they lock in.
Is there any product (besides Microsoft cluster service) that is suitable
for building an HA file server configuration? I'm primarily interested in
solutions that don't require a shared SCSI quorum drive that MSCS uses -
due
to hardware and other configuration issues that's the problem I'm trying
to
avoid by not using MSCS.

I am looking for detailed information and recommendations on how to
deploy Imail 2006 in such a way to guarantee the high availability
of email service. I have read about one method by using a backup
server with a lower MX record to act as store and forward. Are there
any other methods /system designs such as replication or clustering
that anyone has been successful with?
IMail is fully compatible with Microsoft Clusters and third-party
clustering software such as Double-Take. If you're familiar with how
clustering works in general, you'll find IMail a generic,
easily-clustered set of services. If you're not familiar, that's where
you need to start. You need to be able to develop both business and
functional specs for your clustered environment, so that all parties
concerned know what you are and aren't promising, i.e. how you define
"high availability."
