I have a remote pop utility I wrote a couple years ago that is NOT
SUPPORTED, but if you run it on your IMail box it will pop messages from a
user's mailbox then create Q and D files so the queue manager will redeliver
them. I suppose you could point it at localhost to pop from a mailbox and
redeliver them to the mailbox of your choice, or shut off the queue manager
and it would just create Q and D .smd files. Note, it will POP DELETE from
the user's mailbox. You can find it at http://www.tndnet.us/impop/

Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] PoP3 and ETRN?
But what do I do with his mails that where collected? Is there a
tool that cuts my main.mbx in pieces and puts it back in the spool
directory?
I do not offhand know of a parser that can translate an MBX into Q.SMD
and D.SMD files, but it certainly is possible. You use the From_ line
in the MBX to get the envelope sender, and obviously the mailbox name
as the envelope recipient. Write out the message headers/body after
the From_ to a D.SMD file. Create a Q.SMD file from scratch using the
envelope info. Place both files in the spool.
But this is no small task, and if the client really changed it up on
you like that, it's his fault and he should really find a way to POP
the messages instead, IMO.
What happens if I create a Mailserver on another Imail with a lower
priority?
Would this work?
No effect.
