I use the PGP Personal Security Suite to send e-mail, and it works fine with
Imail. The latest version has plug-ins for Outlook and Eudora. Possibly some
other clients as well. I haven't tried the one for Eudora, but the Outlook
version makes using PGP extremely simple, even for novice users. There is no
cutting and pasting needed, nor complicated procedures to follow.
PGP is more dependent upon the mail client, than the server. I would
absolutely recommend the new version, if you need to send secure e-mail. It
has many additional features, besides encrypting e-mail. It is downloadable
for about $15-$20 from http://www.networkassociates.com .
BTW, the software also allows secure PGP communications across a network,
encrypting all point-to-point traffic. I have not delved too far into that
feature though. You can also get a free evaluation version from their
website, if you wish to check it out.

And speaking of security in Imail, it seems that IpSwitch could go a step
further by adding some type of PGP support. I'm not sure how the licensing
issues with such an idea would work, but at least PGP would pick up where
SSL leaves off. PGP would be able to protect the messages intended for
recipients outside of a given virtual domain on the Imail server. Or is
there a better alternative to PGP out there now that I'm not aware of for
securely sending messages across the net?

Check out http://mail.hksi.net now, or https://mail.hksi.net if you want
to start in secure mode. You can switch between modes at the bottom of
the screen.
I'm assuming that if you are communicating with others in YOUR DOMAIN,
that the e-mail will never leave the server, and thus the communication
will be completely secure from peeking Toms from start to finish. If you
send an e-mail to someone outside your IMail-served domain, well, then,
it's out there and up for grabs all along its path. (Someone please
correct me if I have this wrong.)

Yes, 6.02, on NT4/SP4. Running great, haven't had any problems or needed
to restart anything in over 3 weeks. We're fairly low-volume, though,
with about 15 virtual domains and only around 200 users.
