if it happens always around the same time, I would suspect
Antivirus-Update.
It happens totally randomly.
To ensure that there is no network problem, I would change
the switch port&cable, where the server is connected and
check if the NIC is in fiexed and in Place...
Since it happens randomly, for a few days it happens every day then 4-5 days happens when the it happens again, I didn't suspect any network connectivity or NIC card seating problem.
Last days I had a Workstation that rebooted without any Log
entry for a problem or shutdown every day at 12:50-13:00 -
AV-scanning increased CPU-Load, which overheated behause
of a broken cooler fan... Maybe it is connected to the
mailserver load? Run a slow perfmon and monitor CPU load, Disk
IO and TCP connections...
Once the server looses the network the rest of the unit is fine, you can run any applications without any problem.
Right now I am running "netstat -an" once a minute and will see the result there. But Matti, thank you for your ideas, I will consider running the permon if the current test won't give us any clue.
